Renee Olson scholarship (ROS)

Renee Olson

This memorial scholarship fund was established by NAOBI-Atlanta to honor the memory and service of our former President, Shaunta Renee Olson. Renee, as she was affectionately known, served as president from 2008 until her untimely death in 2010. Under Renee’s leadership, strategy planning and vision philosophy, the organization was revitalized after a few of years of dormancy. During this period, the following were accomplished:

  • Membership increased from 33 in 2008 to 87 in 2010
  • Established the Professional Development Committee, which became a major focus of the organization by providing a study and practice forum for students and working interpreters while several interpreters later obtained certification
  • Hosted collaborative workshops and gatherings with national NAOBI, GaRID, and ABDA
